Poetry Month!

April is poetry month! In celebration, Savage Library has pulled poetry books by local poets and Poet Laureates for your enjoyment. The books are available on main floor display stands. Add a little poetry to your life!

The Rare Book Room site has digitalized images of a number of the greatest books ever published from some of the top libraries in the world including Library of Congress, British Library, the Bodleian Library, the Edinburgh Library, and the National Library of Scotland.

Open Access Journal article from BBC

The following article on the growing support for open-access scientific journals in Europe is a good sign given the increasing cost of electronic journals. Any government funded research would be required to publish in one of these open-access journals.

The User Revolution and The Media Divide

Step Back in Time - Visit the Jensen Room!

Interested in Gunnison's history? Looking for new ways to procrastinate? Need a reason to take a study break? Just plain bored? Come by Savage Library’s Helen A. Jensen Room (room 301). The room is open Sunday through Wednesday, 7:00pm – 10:00pm.

The Jensen Room features the Western Colorado Collection, which includes books and other materials pertaining primarily to the history and culture of the Gunnison area, as well as, groovy décor that will blast you right into the 1970’s.

If you aren’t interested in researching local history topics, like Alferd Packer and his venture into cannibalism, you can mosey on up to take in the retro setting…or at least bask in the quiet the room offers. So come visit, pull up a sofa cushion, and soak up the past.
